MAMMOTH
FREDDY AQUINO
The young Californian of Freddy Aquino is a familiar face around the Amsoil Arenacross circuit and is
no stranger to the front of the pack. Just beginning to meddle with the 85cc classes, Freddy came into Mammoth only focused on the 65cc 10-11 and 65cc Open classes, both of which he finds himself a veteran in. With a list of verified top ten finishes, including multiple 2nd place finishes across the Amateur Arenacross
rounds, Aquino came ready to do business and did just that. Starting out day one with a solid step forward, Freddy got out of the gate relatively strong and crossed lap one in 6th. Heading up the endless hill for the second time, Freddy found some fast lines that got him into 4th as lap three began. Not quite able to match the pace of the top three, Freddy settled into the 4th spot and rode it out free of worry. An outstanding start to his eight race week. In moto two of the same class, Freddy was able to remount the race pace in the same exact 4th place spot. Pressuring the back wheel of Reven Gordon, Freddy was able to turn Gordon’s mistake into a pass and got around #105 to finish the final two laps in 3rd. After adding yet another podium to the growing list, Freddy suited
up for heat one of the Open class where he boosted off to a 5th place start. Surprisingly, other than Ryder Difrancisco and Noah Viney trading their 7th and 4th spots, the top five remained stagnant for the entire race with Aquino rounding out the lead pack in 5th at the finish line. Utilizing the track changes in between motos, Freddy was able to start moto two in 6th place, just outside of his goal. Fading back to 7th for the middle part of the race, Aquino regained 6th on the final lap after a late race charge towards the front. With a 3rd and a 6th for day one in the books, Freddy had four more moto’s to hammer in the nail of his early summer success.
