Mini Sr. 2 9-14 was set as more of a feeling out process for the younger Reynolds, as he lined up against unfamiliar foe, including the notorious Carson Mumford. With all odds stacked against the Bakersfield resident, he would display immense courage, taking a third in his heat, and eighth place in the runoff.
As he and his team gathered around for post race strategy, they made sure to emphasize a key term for the racing that would occur on day two: consistency. Reynolds, an attentive and diligent listener, took the word to heart, and translated the vocabulary into solid results.
After a clearing from the runway, and waving of takeoff from his crew, Reynolds clicked into gear, skyrocketing to a holeshot for the first division of 85cc 9-12 competition. He would go onto to take the heat race win, and sit well heading into the runoff.
As the gate fell for moto two, the top four immediately blitzed away from the field and established themselves as the upper echelon. Literally seconds apart, they swapped swiftly, all the while remaining in tact as a unit. Reynolds would come away with a fourth overall, holding his head high.
With the second round of the 9-14 division quickly approaching, Reynolds knew that he had to turn his aggressive dial to the top notch, and prepare for a little turbulence in order to hold his own amongst his elder classmates. Taking note of the forecast, he prepared spectacularly and followed it up with a perfect plan of execution.
After a mishap on lap two of his heat, Reynolds climbed from sixth back to third in order to secure a decent gatepick for the runoff. Battling the likes of older peers such as Max Miller, he would rumble through the cloud of smoke with an overall of fourth, besting the likes of prestigious names such as Preston Kilroy. A job well done, he looks to keep the momentum rising as he furthers his 2016 journey.
