Toni Elias was a last minute addition to the
MotoAmerica lineup just before the 2016
season as the Yoshimura Factory Suzuki
team was scrambling to find a replacement
for Jake Lewis with the season fast
approaching.
It would have been challenging for them to find a more decorated rider than
the Catalan competitor -- Elias raced on the world stage from 1999 to 2015 where he was able to score a multitude of 125cc podiums, a MotoGP victory, and a Moto2 title in the process. He brings unrivaled experience into the MotoAmerica paddock which was on display throughout the 2016 racing season where he fought his way to thirteen podium finishes and two pole positions, eventually earning him third place overall in the championship, only seven points behind the eventual champion, Cameron Beaubier.
