He got a good launch in the first race and commanded second position as the pack carved their way through the iconic turn number one at COTA, tucking
in behind his teammate, Roger Hayden. He matched the pace of the Kentuckian for the opening couple of laps and pounced
on the lead at the earliest opportunity, sliding his way
into first place under braking at the end of the back straight. At that point, Elias realized that he wasn’t able to break away at the front and he utilized superior braking technique and defensive line choice to keep his teammate at bay. The two of them briefly swapped positions at turn twelve once again on the final lap, but Elias was able to secure the spot and hold on for the victory.
