David Anthony is another rider that brings some international flair to the MotoAmerica Championship. The Australian native has been competing in America full-time since 2007 and really began to impress
in 2014 where he scored a pair of second place finishes in the AMA Pro Superbike class aboard his own Aussie Dave Racing Motorsports Suzuki. He made the move to the Supersport class in 2015 and the Superstock class in 2016, but he’s decided to return to the premier class for the 2017 MotoAmerica season on his own Fly Racing/Motul/ADR Motorsports Kawasaki.
He narrowly missed out on the Superpole session and ended up qualifying in fourteenth position on
the grid to start the season. In the first race, Anthony used his experience to work his way through the field as he found himself within the top ten after a third of the race had elapsed. The Australian was engulfed in a battle with Danny Eslick and Hayden Gillim, but an unfortunate error would force him towards the back of the pack and he was not able to finish the race.
In the second race, Anthony shot out to a solid start and was able to maintain fourteenth spot in the early stages of the race. The California resident slowly chipped away at the Suzuki of Hayden Gillim ahead of him and was able to make the pass as the laps wound down, eventually crossing the line in thirteenth position at the checkered flag.
