He lost a couple of places on the opening lap, but the Californian regrouped and did incredibly well to stick with
the three Superbike machines ahead of him for the opening portion of the race, eventually taking advantage of a
Fong ran the pace of the Suzuki duo in the lead for almost the entire race, even setting the fastest lap in the process, but he dropped back about ten seconds as
tire wear became a limiting factor. Nonetheless, Fong absolutely dominated the Superstock 1000 ranks, finishing a full ten seconds ahead of Mathew Scholtz as he clinched the victory. The second race was no different as Fong was able to escape from the rest of the pack with the leading Superbike riders in the early stages of the race. The Californian found himself in a battle with Josh Hayes throughout the opening laps and the two of them duffed one another up which allowed the leading trio to disappear at the front. Fong was the only Superstock rider that was able to dip his lap times into the 2:09s, proving his capability to run with the Superbikes once again as he went on
to sweep the first round of the season.
