JOEY SAVATGY
Joey Savatgy came into the pro ranks relatively under the radar. He had a successful amateur career racking in titles left and right but his road to the top as a professional has been a much tougher road. In his first few seasons he was on a satellite KTM team and despite having a handful of impressive
performances, he could not find much consistency. Injuries played their part in his inconsistency as well but at the end
of the 2014 on Rockstar KTM he put all the pieces together and reeled off five straight top seven overall finishes including a second place podium at Indiana. It was enough to catch the eye of Mitch Payton of the infamous Pro Circuit Kawasaki earning himself a ride. Savatgy wanted to make sure he took full advantage of the opportunity and teamed up with Ricky and Jeannie Carmichael at the “GOAT Farm” to train and take his game to the next level. It appears to have worked as he steadily improved throughout 2015 even securing his first overall win at Unadilla. Last year’s strides led up to his breakout season this year as he grabbed some supercross wins in a competitive West Coast series and dominated rounds one and three of the outdoor championship. He holds the red plate once again as racing resumes this weekend at High Point and expect him to hold on to it a little tighter this time after losing it in a disappointing round two at Glen Helen.
