Fresh off capturing his third 450 SX Championship, Ryan Dungey entered Las Vegas treating like any other race. His goal was to go out and win no matter what. He took advantage of the only timed qualifying session he would get and threw down the fastest lap time. But his fastest lap time would come with a dry track; the complete opposite kind of track he and the rest of the field would deal with come race time. The track was a giant pool of water at one point and the track
crew had to literally pump the water out. It sure made for an interesting night of racing.
Dungey didn’t care if the track was wet or dry as he out braked Anderson for the holeshot in his heat race. He started logging fast laps on the slick, sticky Las Vegas soil and rode to victory. He did get a little push from Anderson at one point but he quickly
weathered that storm.
