Understanding the element of importance at play, Stewart wasted no time getting in front pack, leaning
on the rear fender as he rallied out of thunder alley in 3rd. Holding the door shut on the pack of hounds
behind him, Stewart stayed there. With the chaos created from the slick surface surrounding his glory, Stewart rode confidently in 3rd for the next seven laps before closing the gap on 2nd place rider Colt Nichols in the last rhythm of lap eight. Doubling in to what seemed to be an extremely tricky double section, Stewart made quick work of Nichols and settled for the next two laps. One of the few 250 riders tripling, Stewart looked to have the championship completely locked up with only three laps left yet two of the west coast rivals, Osborne and Plessinger, were charging towards the front with precision. By the end of lap ten, Osborne had made his way around Stewart who knew he had two laps left to greatness. Clearly having the points in his favor, Malcolm rode with careful consideration the last lap
and half, allowing Plessinger to reach his rear tire. With the checkers already waved for the west coast Savatgy, Malcolm had nothing but adrenaline keeping his hands from raising in anticipation. Hugging the inside and barely making it out of the whoops in one piece, Stewart barely edged out the charge of Plessinger to finish 3rd on the night and champion of the east coast series. For the first time in Supercross history, brothers have been united through championship dreams and Malcolm has officially turned the page on his past. Two weeks from the beginning of the outdoor series, Stewart is counting on having more opportunities in continuing to write his future.
