By the end of the lap, in the last rhythm before the whoop section leading to the finish line, Roczen mistimed his preload and was sent almost aggressively over the bars. The incident took the closely following #1 of Dungey down in the process, but Ryan bounced up quickly, recovering the lead with
minimal time lost. Something seemed to be wrong with Ken, though. He did get up but was passed by Jason Anderson and pulled off just into lap seven of the sixteen lap main event. Quickly chatting with team members and his mechanic, it appeared that Roczen reentered the race track rather immediately but only temporarily as he failed to finish lap seven and pulled out for the remainder of the race. It’s unclear if there were any serious outcomes of the mid-race mistake but Roczen was most likely saving his health and reducing the risk of injury before the start of the summer series starting in two weeks. Even with the unfortunate result, the German kept his 2nd spot in the standings and ended the series a full sixty points behind Dungey. Looking to the next few months and sending positive vibes Roczen’s way, it’s going to be one outstanding summer in the great outdoors.
