The rugged, tough, lumberjack-esque mentality of Martin was apparent when the gate fell for 250 heat one. He blitzed the chocolate sludge with no fear, acting as if the inches of rain were merely there to create splashes. He would hop from puddle to puddle, acting as if he were in charge of the grotesque terrain. All would be well until the white flag loomed in the distance, as a miscalculation would cause an immediate jackknife into the final turn, handing over the lead and win to Joey Savatgy. Martin would remount, finishing fourth and looking forward to what lay ahead.
