With the Kentucky Derby falling this weekend, it was only right for Audette to saddle up and
jockey for position in the opening moments of his Las Vegas racing segment. Top five on lap one, he fought Martin Davalos and Dakota Alix tooth and nail for the optimum line around the flooded racecourse. Gannon, although a good start, hovered near the seventh position
for majority of the race, concluding here, and doing just enough to land in the main. It seems
as when the pressure is on, that Audette rises to the occasion; and Las Vegas was no different. Although a ninth place start wasn’t what he had visualized in pre-race meditation, it was something he could work with. Quietly, the Pro Circuit pilot would inch his way past every lethargic competitor, racing the course with a technique that showed a sense of maturity and patience. Eighth would turn to seventh, and then to sixth, and so on, ultimately finishing fifth overall. A remarkable effort, and a season ending result he couldn’t have ever imagined prior to the opening round.
