With an old wise tale circulating of Jimmy D racing through the eye of Hurricane Sandy a few years ago, many on the line began to shake with fear when they saw the 58 in proximity. He proved the story true, as he catapulted to an early second place position, intensely stalking the number 26 of Alex Martin. Charging every corner as if he were in the sands of the Sahara, the blistering effort seemed to have negative repercussions, causing the Bostonian to make multiple mistakes. Although he would drop from his early race high, Decotis would hold on and make sure to grab a spot in the
finale, placing seventh at race end. A delayed reaction, coupled with spinning of the rear tire, can equate to one thing in
a mud race: disaster. Decotis quickly realized that a nightmare of a main event was about to ensue, following a near last place start. 19th on the opening grid, he had his work cut out for him, especially with aspirations of claiming another years worth of contract. Never seeming to find his groove, Jimmy would struggle to obtain his ultimate potential aboard the rain-washed landscape, finishing 19th. A whole-hearted effort, the Geico rider should be proud of the season he finished, as he rapidly gained fans in every instance along the way, no matter what the result.
