Mini Sr. 2 (12-14) would be the home to some of the best racing all weekend. Moto one set the tone,
as it was clear that it would just be a two-man duel for the championship between Mumford and
Miller. Mumford got out to the early lead in moto one and attempted to pull away but Miller put the hammer down and made the move for the lead halfway through and continued on for the win with Mumford finishing second. Moto two was a thriller as it saw Mumford get the holeshot with Miller right behind. It was all out war and Mumford was able to weather storm until a bobble with two to go allowed Miller to get close enough and make the pass for the win on the final lap! A gut wrenching way for Mumford to lose but he wasn’t done just yet. The third moto came around he knew he needed a win and a little help if he wanted to win the championship. He got right to work and cranked the holeshot and started putting in work. Max Miller on the other hand came around lap one in a dismal sixteenth place. Mumford knew he all he had to do was keep it on two wheels and ride to the championship. Ty Masterpool did not make it
easy on him by any means. Ty hounded Mumford the entire race, the distance between the two was never more than one second but Mumford did not crack and secured the win and the championship as Miller was only able to salvage a fifth. The two championships
are a great way to start the season for Mumford in his first full season with Geico Honda.
