CARSON MUMFORD
As the 2016 amateur season gets underway, it is carson Mumford’s goal to solidify himself as the guy to beat in the Mini Sr. (12-14) classes. 2016 also marks the young southern california rider’s first full season with the prestigious Amsoil Geico Honda team. Late last season, Mum- ford made the switch from Kawasaki to the Geico Honda squad because it was an offer that he just could not refuse; a six-year deal and full support that includes his first two years as a
professional. Not too shabby for the then thirteen year old kid. One of the biggest changes and obstacles he would have
to overcome when signing with Geico was the transition from the 85 two stroke to the 150 four stroke machine. Two completely different riding styles on each bike but Mumford is as talented as any and would get used to the 150 right away. With only six days on the bike, he went out and had a successful weekend at the Vurb Classic in Oatfield even coming away with a moto win. It showed his ability to adapt and overcome changes in a short period of time. And now with several months under his belt with the new team, we can expect to see him be a title contender at every national he attends this year.
