From there the race was on. Hollenbeck dealt with the constant pressure of Spinali for the five remaining laps. Spinali even set down a blistering lap time with two
to go to get right on the rear wheel of Hollenbeck but it was too little too late as
Hollenbeck held on for the win by just a mere two tenths of a second. It was one of the closest races all day coming from the 50+ class! As they lined it up for moto 3, Hollenbeck knew he had leeway when it came to the championship so when he started second right behind Spinali, he did not push as hard as he could have. Spinali threw down some fast times and put some distance between the two on his way to winning the battle but because of the first two moto wins by Hollenbeck, Hollenbeck won the war. It was a hard fought championship for the veteran and he will surely savor it.
