The last Mini Sr. 1 moto produced a battle of the Max’s early on, as Max Vohland battled with fellow KTM rider Max Miller at the start of the race. Dilan Schwartz charged from a mid-pack start to finish second, eventually finding his way past Vohland on lap three. Max kept him honest, putting in his fastest time on the penultimate lap, but he had to settle for third place on the day and sixth overall
due to the unfortunate second moto. In the 85cc 9 - 12 class, Max duked it out with Team Green superstar Ryder DiFrancesco and MTF standout Matthew LeBlanc. The first moto saw Vohland get out to a good jump just behind Ryder D and put a move on him almost right away. From that point on, he never looked back and put the hammer down, at one point stretching the gap out to almost six seconds. The second moto started just the same, but instead of Ryder D in his sights, Max had his targets set on Chance Hymas. The two of them had a good battle in the middle of the race, but his late race pace was too much for Hymas to handle and he ended up stretching out a two second gap over the rider out of Idaho at the checkered flag. Vohland rode a very mature and measured race in Sunday’s race for a rider of his age, not panicking after starting outside of the top five. He calmly picked his way through the pack, passing Brock Bennett and Brandon Ray in the process. Max was able to take advantage of a mistake from Talon Hawkins late in the race in order to round out the last spot on the podium and wrap up the title with a near perfect performance.
