in each particular motocross event, it’s easy to get lost and overlook a division you may not know off the top of your head. With all sorts of classifications, many seemed to be duplicated, creating the mindset of, “You’ve seen one, and you’ve seen them all.” Yet, that couldn’t be further from the truth. As you may know, there were both Limited, and unlimited divisions of the Mini Sr. (12-15 group), yet two different winners presented championships, making it a hit with the crowd and all members of the industry alike. Jack Chambers, a resident of near by Auburn- dale, Florida, took a little bit of momentum from the name of his hometown, as Saturday night, saw the world of collegiate football shocked,
as the Auburn Tigers took down number one ranked powerhouse, Alabama. Chambers, seemed to embody that same mindset, looking down the gate of riders prior to takeoff, consist- ing of Leodoricio, Reyes, and Chase Prince. He knew, he may not be the odds on favorite, but with will-power, courageousness, and heart, he could claim victory over these guys. For moto number one, Chambers had his taste of the spotlight in the early going, getting a holeshot an early lead. However, his adrenaline spiked, and caused a bit of overwhelm to the number 102, allowing the Husqvarna of Larry Reyes Jr. around. A mistake on the last lap would also allow Marcello Leodorico to get by, pushing him to third by race end. Crossing the line, he was no doubt pleased with his finish, but he truly believed he could contend for a win after his first few laps, and that was all that was needed for the second moto. Chambers, once again had the starting technique dialed, putting those who beat him behind. Reyes, sitting second in the early going would be the man on the move, meanwhile Chambers was telling himself to calm down out front. With reminders to breathe every lap, when he would pass the mechan-
ics area, Chambers was doing it, holding off
the pressure of Marcello and Reyes. He would hold on, leaping over the grandstand jump with a slight whip, knowing just a few turns were
left. Crossing the finish line, chills would rush through his body, his team hugging and grasp- ing his hands. The championship was his for the taking, and he truly deserved all the praise in which he would receive.
