With the cost of four-stroke machines piling up each and every year, even getting a bike off the showroom floor can be a major commit- ment, and felt in your pocketbook. The maintenance has to be regulatory, and in worse-case scenarios, if something happens to fail, you may be gritting your teeth when headed to the register. That’s just part of how our motocross society has evolved, with four-stroke tech- nology taking the aggressiveness, and raw power of a 2-stroke, and coupling it with the Cadillac-smooth riding feel of four stroke acceler- ation. However, there are those still carrying the torch as strong as ever for the two-stroke mafia, and they can be found in the Schoolboy 1 (12-16) B/C class, at many local races, and all of the amateur nationals. The 2017 Winter Olympics were no different, with the gates being full, and a ton of talent in contention for the title once all was said and done.
