RYAN DUNGEY
Ryan Dungey is the type of motocross racer that little kids want to emulate. He is the prototypical athlete; extremely hard working, talented, top of-the-line speed, and loads of endurance. Plus he is the first rider to grace the historic Wheaties cereal box creating a lot of exposure and helping bring in many new fans. Dungey is kind of like a “create a player” in many video games. He has
all the right attributes to succeed and he is only getting better as he gets deeper into his career.
The best few years in fact have arguably been his best seasons to date. He has won back-to-back supercross titles (2015-2016) and is looking to go back to back again this year for the outdoor title. He is doing all of this in a class of riders that we marvel as the most stacked we have seen in years. It’s truly remarkable that Dungey has been able to stay so fast and consistent with all of this talent around him on a weekly basis. However, he may be facing his toughest challenge in several years this season during the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross championship and that challenge is Ken Roczen. Roczen came out swinging at the first two rounds sweeping three of the four motos his only blemish coming from a freak mechanical late in the moto. But we have seen Dungey in this position before; he will remain consistent and stay breathing down Roczen’s neck all summer long.
