Mitchell Harrison showed some speed at Glen Helen cracking the top ten in the second moto. He carried that momentum with him to Colorado with a solid sixteenth fastest qualifying time. He was
set up for a solid day of racing with the rest of his Star Racing Yamaha teammates. Harrison cranked out a pretty solid start in moto one and captured the green flag in ninth place. There was a lot of people moving around and going down
in the early stages of the moto and Harrison found himself up in eighth at one point. He looked really good up front but two riders, Plessinger and Hampshire, would find ways around him before the halfway point sending him back to tenth. He held onto that final top ten spot for dear life but Oldenburg would weasel by during the second half of the race. He bumped back up to tenth after a rider went down ahead of him and looked to grab another top ten but his teammate Alex Martin came out of nowhere with two laps to go making the pass and sending Harrison back to eleventh where he would finish. It was a solid moto for the rookie still gaining valuable experi- ence. Moto number two was very similar to his first moto. He started in eighth place and went back and forth between positions before Nelson and Webb finally made the passes stick sending Mitchell back to tenth place. He tried locking in with his teammate Webb and did pretty well in doing so. He kept him in sight but Osborne would slide by halfway pushing him back to eleventh. Hampshire and Plessinger then came knocking on the door just as they did in moto one but Harrison put up a fight only letting Hampshire by for the time being. He would hop back up into tenth place after a Nelson crash but just when he thought he had another top ten Plessinger came knocking at the door once again and made the pass. Harrison would stay with him but ultimately end up eleventh for the second straight moto. The 11-11 scores would be good enough for tenth overall making that a career best for the rookie Yamaha rider. He seems to be getting stronger with each round and he might be picking up on some winning tips from his very successful teammates.
