Mitchell Oldenburg came into Red Bud ready to continue his solid season under the Troy Lee/Red Bull
KTM banner. The Texas native gelled well with the track in qualifying practice and emerged with an
impressive eighth fastest time. He was ready to show everyone what he’s capable of in the motos. Oldenburg got off to a decent start in moto one emerging from the chaos in ninth place. He clearly wasn’t happy with the position so he surged forward and made quick work of Harrison and Cianciarulo to get into seventh by lap three. He stayed strong in that position for a majority of the moto putting together some really solid laps while closing in on Plessinger. Around the halfway point he would make the move on Plessinger and hop up into sixth place. His time in sixth was short lived however as he would lose
a battle with Osborne for the spot. He continued to ride well in seventh until the last few laps where he began to wilt just a bit as Cianciarulo would sneak back by. Oldenburg would finish the moto in the eighth position. Oldenburg started the second moto slightly worse than the first moto, rounding lap one in thirteenth place. He didn’t have that same spark this time around but he still moved forward. He got up into tenth by the halfway point and would move into ninth a few laps later after Savatgy would go down. From there Oldenburg would ride solid and finish with that ninth place spot. 8-9 moto scores on the day may have been a tad worse than he would have liked but they were very consistent. Something he has struggled with at a few rounds this season.
