ARNAUD TONUS
Arnaud Tonus’ tenure in the United States the past few years has not gone to plan. Mitch Payton gave the Swiss rider a shot with the Pro Circuit Monster Energy Kawasaki at the beginning of the 2015 season. It was a two year deal and it almost immediately got off on the wrong foot. Tonus looked great in practice during his first supercross but would crash in the race. He would then be forced to bow out after
three rounds due to a virus similar to Epstein Barr. He returned at Washougal and actually scored a very impressive third in his first ever moto in the US. His virus flared back up immediately after the race and forced him to sit the rest of 2015. 2016 hasn’t gone much better as he has been nagged from injuries right from the get go. Despite that, he has begun to garner some momentum at each round this season. He has finished in the top ten in one of the motos at the last three rounds improving his overalls with each round. If Tonus can figure out how to put two solid motos together, we will see him with consistent top ten overalls.
