Big Al was feeling it Saturday morning in Michigan. Alex threw some whips and was having fun in both the
practices. He ended up turning the fastest time in the second practice and qualified 2nd overall going into
the motos. In 250 moto one, Alex got off to an excellent jump but so did the rest of his teammates. He was
running just inside the top ten early on lap one. Alex began to come up on his fellow team rider, Plessinger. With about twenty minutes left on the clock the battle tightened up and Alex was able to make the pass. He now set his sights on his little brother in front of him. With about ten minutes left the clock, Alex closed up on Jeremy and was pushing him to pass the rider in front of them. They both managed to pass the rookie Forkner and were moving forward quickly. Alex then managed to pass his brother and was running in podium position with five minutes left on the clock. He was too far away from 1st and 2nd place and would settle for 3rd. In the second moto, Alex got a much better start and made the move into 3rd place before crossing the green flag. With the first moto winner in toe, the pressure was on. Then, only a couple laps in, the leader went down and Alex took over 2nd place with ease. He was now close to McElrath and could smell the win. As they came down the hill, leader, McElrath, went off the track and Alex happily took over 1st place position. With a hard charging little brother behind him, Alex was starting to feel the pressure. With about halfway to go, Alex’s brother went down and that gave Alex the breathing room he needed to focus on the win. Then with five laps to go, Cooper began to creep up on Alex’s rear wheel. As they passed the finish line with 4 to go, Alex looked over just in time to see Cooper pass him. He was now running 2nd and very confused as to how Cooper just passed him. Alex settled into 2nd and was starting to feel pressure from another rider with only two laps to go. Osborne made the pass on Alex through the rollers and it seemed Alex was, again, taken
by surprise. He did everything he could to pass him back but could not make it happen by the finish. He would go 3-3 for 2nd overall at
Redbud.
