With the best in the business lurking at his doorstep, Alessi began to build confidence lap after lap. Holding to the lead for quite a while, the top competitors began to make their way by nearing the halfway point. He would hold on, analyzing their moves as they passed. The result of an early lead would pay off by race end however, as the number 800 would go onto finish fifth in the moto, and taking home a fifth overall.
