Swarmed in the opening moments, double L was screeched to a halt when riders began to drop like flies in the opening sequences. Lorenzo had nowhere to go, but rather than sinking his head in frustration, he knew that the time was now and he had to rally forward in order to impress teams, friends, and family. The idea of quitting never crossed the mind, as Locurcio charged from a devastating 17th place, all the way to eighth by the final flag. And although he may not have been on the box, many took notice, as he continued to charge through some of his darkest moments; he would bring home an admirable sixth place overall.
