BROCK PAPI
Since obtaining a 3rd place in the Schoolboy class at the premier Loretta Lynn’s event last year, this polished rider has entered into a new realm of quickness. The main events at this year’s RCSX may not go to show exactly what I mean, yet if you take
a deeper look into the heat race finishes, you’ll see the 1st and 2nd place rides he successfully executed. Not the type of week anyone hopes for, faltering in the mains, the Horton Racing/Yamaha rider has put in the work the last few weeks to make the
results go further into the second moto’s. What’s interesting coming into the James Stewart Freestone Spring Championships for 2016 is that the #144 of Brock Papi has become almost exclusively a Schoolboy and 2-stroke rider. For the event this week in Texas, Brock will line up in a total of four classes, Schoolboy 1 and 2, 250 All-Star 14+ and the 125 12-16. Used to running in multiple classifications, the 16-year-old rider heads to the starting line for Freestone prepared for battle. To do so, Papi will have to finish each and every race, in order to truly reveal what the next year of championships will hold. The absence of confidence can be a dangerous thing and with only one form of treatment or cure, Papi should be all systems go. Having checkers on the mind, with the pre-mix waft running thick, expectations will be high once the gate drops for the #144.
