What a heartbreaking night for Shane McElrath in Toronto. After suffering from an injury
in the off season, Shane’s 2016 250 East Coast SX series has gotten off to a slow start.
Finally getting the break he needed, Shane got off to a spectacular start in the main event and put himself in a great position for a podium finish. Avoiding all the mayhem that took place in the first turn, McElrath came out in 2nd place and quickly worked his way into the lead. After leading a few laps, he eventually got passed by his Troy Lee Design’s KTM teammate Justin Hill and the team was looking to go 1-2 on the night. Shane had 2nd place in the bag holding over a ten second lead over third when suddenly he got a flat rear tire out of no where. This was devastating for Shane as this was completely out of his hands. After pulling off the track and waiting for his team to change his rear tire, Shane returned to the race and fought back to 18th overall.
