Deven Raper didn’t have the best morning in Canada as the track was very difficult. He was able to qualify 27th and would go to the night show eager to make his way into another Main Event. Raper had a great jump off the line in 450 Heat 2 and came around the first lap in 11th. At that point he was fighting for gate pick for the Semi and would be able to hold on and fin-
ish 11th. Deven was put in 450 Semi 2 and after a red flag restart, he came out swinging! He was running 5th on the first lap but unfortunately was passed and shuffled back to 8th by the time the checkered flag flew. He would go to the LCQ with one goal, try to get into his 2nd Main Event of 2016. Deven got a fantastic start in the LCQ and came out of the second corner in an impressive 2nd place. Raper would fall victim to other hungry 450 riders and would have to give it everything he had if he wanted to qualify for the Main. With one lap to go, Deven held down the last qualifying spot with a ton of pressure from Archer behind him. After a last corner pass attempt from Archer, Deven would out power him out of the corner and cross the line in 4th. He would go on to his 2nd Main Event of 2016. Deven would line up for the big show on the outside and would hope for a good jump. As the Main Event started, the intensity was comparable to the 250 Main and so were the crashes. Deven would tangle with Jason Anderson in the first rhythm section but luckily got back up and go- ing. Deven would finish a quiet 18th overall in his 2nd Main Event of 2016, his best finish of the year.
