Justin Brayton has steadily been improving this season and wanted to keep that trend going at Millville. He
got his day going during qualifying practice with a solid tenth place effort and looked poised to keep it roll-
ing come race time. Brayton did not get the best of starts in moto one and wound up in fifteenth place at the green flag. Instead of panicking, he used his veteran poise and slowly settled into a groove. He didn’t make many passes early but by the halfway point he had methodically worked up to eleventh place. Then in the latter half of the moto, he picked up the aggression and engaged in a dogfight with Dean Wilson. The two riders were using every inch of the track to battle with one another for the better part of two laps. It was entertaining to watch and it ended with Brayton securing the tenth place position. He continued his fight forward by getting around the returning James Stewart and finishing the moto in a come from behind ninth place. Brayton got a much better start in
the second moto emerging from lap one in seventh place. He got passed by Tomac and Canard in the opening laps but stopped the bleeding back in ninth place. He settled in and distanced himself from the riders behind him. He rode most of the race by himself
but did put some pressure on his BTO Sports KTM teammate Andrew Short late in the race. However short was able to hold on and Brayton would finish in ninth. His 9-9 performance mirrored his results from the previous week and I’ve go to believe that he is head- ing into Washougal satisfied with his ride.
