Andrew Short’s farewell season has been picking up steam in recent weeks and anticipated more of the same at Millville. Shorty qualified a solid twelfth place in qualifying practice and looked to be pretty comfortable out on
the track. Short nailed a solid start in the opening moto coming around the first lap in eighth place. Instead of dropping some positions like we have seen a few times this season, he began charging. We hadn’t seen this kind of aggression from him in a couple of years and it was fun to watch. He got by his teammate Benny Bloss a few laps in and then got around Nicoletti shortly after. Short was up in sixth place and riding the best he has all season for the majority of the moto until the party was spoiled by Trey Canard with three laps to go. Canard applied the pressure and caused Short to make a mistake and fall back to eighth. He would hold onto that position and despite the fall, it was his best ride of the season. Short kept his great day going in the second moto by flying out to a second place start. He did his best to stay up front but he would drop positions periodically throughout the first half of the moto until he settled into eighth place. From there Short locked in and focused on staying right in that position. He looked to do so until the end of the moto when his pal Justin Brayton began knocking on his door. Short responded by building back up a little cushion and holding the eighth place position all the way to the end. The 8-8 moto scores on the day were good enough for seventh overall making it his best performance of the season by far.
