Arnaud Tonus had a career best performance last weekend at Southwick and was hungry for more. He proved that in qualifying practice on the fresh Millville course with the fifth fastest lap time. He appeared to be ready to
keep his hot streak going. Tonus got a mediocre start in the opening moto rounding lap one in eleventh place. After the past few weeks we expected to see him start making moves early but he remained stagnant in eleventh for several laps. He was able to inch up to ninth midway after passing Oldenburg and a downed Zach Osborne. In the latter half of the moto he was able to get around Davalos for eighth
and would end up finishing in that position. Tonus got off to another sub par start in the second moto exiting lap one in fourteenth position.
He looked to be a little more fired up this go around after a boring first moto and leapt by RJ Hampshire to cap off a quick charge forward
into eleventh. He picked up another position by passing Oldenburg a few more laps in to move into the number ten spot. His drive stalled out there and he rode the majority of the moto in tenth. Then late in the moto he was able to catch up to rookie Mitchell Harrison and pass him for ninth place. He would finish in that spot making it 8-9 moto scores on the day for seventh overall. It was a quiet but solid day for the Swiss rider and he has got to be happy that the season is rolling into Washougal next weekend; the sight of his only podium finish of his career.
