>> Cooper Webb started off the 2017 season strong finishing within the top ten, making the adjustment to the 450 class look easy. Unfor- tunately, last weekend he suffered with some mechanical errors that left him in the back of the pack with a poor finish. Looking to get back into the coveted top ten. Looking to recover from last weekend, Coo- per Webb came in swinging for round 3 at Thunder Valley in Colorado. Qualifying way up in 6th heading into the moto’s, Webb had his head in the right place before the races started. Getting a nice jump out of the gate for moto one, Webb was up around 7th through the first turn. Before the second lap was over, Webb had some mechanical errors that left him hung up in the pits with his mechanic. Losing an entire
lap fixing his machine, The Factory Yamaha rider made it back out on the track and was quick at work to make up the time he lost. Making as many passes he could in the time that was left of the race Webb made it up to 22nd by the end of the race. An upsetting first moto for the 450-class rookie. Getting the bike fixed up and ready to go in the downtime between motos, Webb was lined up and prepared for some battles in moto 2 to recover some of those lost points from moto one. Getting a good jump out of the gate he charged hard to the first turn getting another 7th place start. Making a small mistake early on he fell back into 10th behind the heavy hitter Cole Seely. Only halfway through the race he had gained some time back and worked his way up to 6th place. Battling with Josh Grant for the last few laps of the race, he was able to steal the pass and move into 4th. Webb showed some true speed up in Colorado going 22-4 finishing the day with a well-deserved 11th overall.
