Still dealing with new team and new schedule adjustments, Lamay put forth an impressive morning to qualify inside the top twenty with a 19th in practice. Despite his time in practice, though, Ben got off
the gate in moto one poorly and found himself in outside of the top thirty early on. By lap three, Ben had found his way to 30th before dropping back to 32nd and finally making a strong push forward over the next few laps. Quickly, Lamay navigated the riders in front of him to rally up to 24th behind Andrew Short. Near the halfway mark, Ben ran into trouble and began to drop positions quickly. Within minutes, Lamay’s position dropped to 33rd on the leaderboard before motioning that Ben had pulled out of the
race. It wasn’t apparent whether it was due to mechanical difficulties or not, Ben was able to regain his composure to turn it around in moto two. The kid from Alaska didn’t want to deal with the back of the pack so he came out of the gate hot in 17th, well
ahead of where he began moto one.
