Firing out of the hole, Barcia’s trendy starting technique reared its head again, just sitting outside the top
three and trailing teammate, Phil Nicoletti in the opening moments. Fourth across timing and scoring, he was making a tremendous effort to keep the heart rate down, and reduce a spike of piercing shock. Nearing the halfway point however, the chromosomes and emotions of the blue JGR plastic must’ve attracted, as the camera panned two Yamaha’s stuck together on the ground; it was Barcia And Nicoletti. 16th after the remount, the bad woes continued unfortunately, as a second surge of charging left him with a 35th and an uncharacteristic result for the moto. It appeared as though lady luck wanted another say in the game in which was running its course through Barcia’s mind, as he rounded moto two’s initial timing and scoring in you guessed it, infamous 13th. Pinpointing his marksmanship, his plan was to methodically work his way through the cluster that lay ahead, skipping each square edged hole with a rhythmic hop. Picking off a remarkable 25 positions with 17 minutes to spare, he began to creep in the top ten. Once into the single digits, he encountered the brutus of teammates, in that Weston Peick, in which he made quick work of. Next
up, Blake Baggett, who he saw as a limping gazelle and made dyer effort to attack. Sixth was obtained, and fifth shortly there after, following a buzzer-beater pass on Cole Seely; taking home an eleventh overall wasn’t ideal, but for the events that transpired, it could
have been much worse.
