Keep in mind, McConahy’s resources are extremely limited compared to his factory counterparts, but the young man still rummaged through his bag of tricks, and came away with an impressive start inside the top twenty. Battling with the likes of Cole Martinez, and Benny Bloss, he hovered near the 17th position
for the initial moments of the event. Holding strong two thirds of the way into the moto, Noah made sure his goal of scoring points was still well within reach. Amateur champions, professional moto winners, and contracted competitors all around, the number 96 was displaying a solemn sense of confidence and making sure that no position was given lightly. As the checkered flag flew,
and the Husqvarna rounded the final bend, a 17th would be given, and a feeling of accomplishment would overcome the Spokane native. As round two approached and began, Noah wanted to replicate his performance in front of the mountainous crowd, and rekindle the success he once had in the Volunteer State. With temperatures forming a steam room type of effect, the rising humidity began to zap electrolytes from each competitor’s pores, extracting every bit of energy possible. McConahy seemed to feel the effect, as a delayed reaction off the start gate placed him in 29th on lap one. However a resurgence of grittiness countered the sweltering conditions a few minutes in, almost as if he tapped into a second mentality and put his fatigue to the wayside; he had escalated to 22nd with 20 minutes to go Three minutes to the board and McConahy sat 20th, hoping to earn yet another point and carry on his two-digit legacy. He would reside here and finish a very respectable 21st overall.
