Benny debuted his new KTM ride in the wet conditions early in Massachusetts. He was able to come away 17th fastest in the first 450 A practice as the sloppy conditions favored the larger stature of Bloss. The track was drying up and it looked as though Benny was going to have
a good debut in the premier class. He came out with a top ten start in 450 Heat 1 and battled to remain top ten in the chaos of the first lap. Benny made his way up to 9th but it would not
be enough to qualify and he would go on to the Semi. In this race, Bloss got off to a great start and was challenging for 2nd place early. He took the position boldly and it looked to be an easy qualifier for Bloss. Unfortunately on Lap
2, disaster struck through the whoops as he dropped a front wheel, which threw him to the ground in a hurry. He would now only have one more chance to get into the Main Event and he knew what he had to do. When the LCQ began, Benny got a good jump but had to check up to avoid crashing in the first turn. He came out of the first corner in the top 15 and had a lot of work to do
if he wanted to get into the Main. The rookie sliced and diced his way through the pack, passing multiple riders per section but unfortunately had to settle for 5th position. If his start had just been a little bit better, he would of easily qualified for his first 450 Main Event. Look for Benny to redeem himself next weekend in New Jersey.
