Now tied for 10th in points, Jake was unable to finish Saturday afternoon and has a reason to walk
away from Gillette Stadium with a chip on his shoulder and motivation to up the ante before heading
to East Rutherford next weekend. He struggled all day qualifying in 14th and finishing with an 8th place ride in his heat race to miss out on his first opportunity at a ticket into the main event. The rain-soaked Foxborough circuit seemed to be unusually tough to find a solid rhythm in and Weimer’s attempts were unsuccessful. Facing another five laps in order to qualify, Weimer was forced to dig deep in his semi as he battled with AJ Catanzaro for 5th and the final transfer position. Carrying the frustration with him around the track, Weimer’s last lap of Semi 1 was serious and he pulled away from AJ to stop the bleeding and rest up for the next twenty laps of on the rocky and rutted Foxborough layout. With a short period of rest done and over, the bursts of fire above the starting line glared in the light of a dawn in Mas- sachusetts, Weimer started strong and held down 9th when he crossed the finish on lap one. On lap two, Weimer lost a spot to Brayton and at the start of lap three, Weimer fell outside the top-10 by losing a spot to Weston Peick. Bolting around the first turn sweeper, Peick makes a mistake jumping into the rhythm section causing Weimer to make contact. In the blink of an eye, Weimer wadded hard, Tickle and Barcia tangled in Weimer’s machine and the nearly the entire width of the first rhythm was considered a danger zone. Unable to remount, Weimer was tended to by the Asterisk medical staff while Roczen rocketed out to a wire-to-wire win. In the wake, Weimer only gained one-point at Gillette Stadium and is now tied with Peick, the antagonist on Saturday afternoon. With the exact details of Weimer’s condition unclear, hopefully all is well under the RCH tent and we’ll see the #12 Suzuki back on the line for round sixteen next weekend.
