From the drop of the gate, Dungey was on a roll. He would quickly slip into the lead, but
would find himself dealing with Ken Roczen almost immediately. The crowd would watch
with baited breath as Roczen crept closer and closer to Dungey’s rear tire. Lap eight was a white-knuckle lap – Roczen began to ring serious heat to Dungey’s lead, nearly making a pass on several occasions. This ag- gressive move seemed to light a fire in Dungey, who suddenly began to put distance on Roczen. This distance would grow for the rest of the race – carrying Dungey all the way to another victory.
