(WWJ) A Detroit woman faces up to a year in jail after authorities say a make out session went hor- ribly wrong.
Macomb County Prosecutor Eric Smith says 52- year-old suspect Youlette Wedgeworth was "engaging in con- sensual kissing" with a friend in his Macomb County apart- ment on Tuesday when she bit off about a one-inch section of his tongue.
According to prosecutors, police arrived on the scene to find the man bleeding from his mouth.
The victim was taken to area hospital
and Wedgeworth was arrested without incident. I t's not clear why she did it.
“I believe this is the first case of this nature in my 27 years in the Prosecutor’s Office,” said Macomb County
Prosecutor Eric Smith.
Officers recov- ered the miss- ing piece of tongue in the vic- tim's bedroom, but it was not immediately clear whether doctors were able to reat- tach it.
Wedgeworth was arraigned in 37th District Court Wednesday as on a charge of aggravated assault, a misde- meanor that car- ries a penalty of up to a year in jail and/or a $1,000 fine. Bond was set at $25,000 cash/ surety and a pre- trial conference was scheduled for Feb. 19.

show Wedgewort h served prison time on a convic- tion for assault with intent to do great bodily harm in Wayne County, dating back to 1997.
