The Debate and the Crafts Council of New Zealand
Tunstall’s criticism came at a time when craft artists, educators and craftspeople
were divided over the future of the craft movement. The formation of the Crafts
Council of New Zealand (CCNZ) in 1977and its associated magazine had
encouraged a more informed discussion. But the CCNZ had no authority to decide
