Acme has it taped
Earlier this year, Acme Supplies acquired New Zealand Tape Specialists Ltd (Tapespec) from its founder Terry Smith.
Tapespec is credited with introducing market-leading Washi masking tape into the NZ market 10+ years ago.
Washi masking tape is manufactured with Japanese rice paper, rather than crepe paper, and offer the key benefits of very sharp paint lines (no paint bleed) and being able to be removed cleanly (no residue), even after being left in place for up to 60 days.
This acquisition significantly expands Acme’s footprint in the paint & décor channel to the point where the company claims to now offer the largest range of masking tapes and related products in NZ under its Sellotape and Tapespec brands, along with private label for some key customers.
In addition to masking products, Acme also supplies German brand Metylan wallpaper pastes and removers and Japanese brand Tajima cutter knives for the NZ painting and decorating market.
