Credit where
it’s due...
CreditWorks Group has achieved ISO 27001 Certification, making it the first and only trade credit bureau in New Zealand to have achieved this globally recognised accreditation.
ISO 27001, the international marque for best practice in Information Security, is widely accepted as the world’s best framework for excellence in data risk management.
“Achieving ISO Certification is huge for our CreditWorks team, and it has absolutely been a collective effort across the business,” says founder and CEO, Ronnie Tan.
Now that CreditWorks has achieved ISO 27001 Certification it will have to consistently demonstrate an ongoing ability to live it each day and will be audited twice annually.
We congratulate CreditWorks, in this its 20th year, on this achievement and remind readers to check out CreditWorks’ regular survey of industry risk data in
our exclusive series in the magazine (see page 12) and online.

    Mitre 10 recognises supply partners
THE ANNUAL MITRE 10 Supplier Update and Awards were this year held at Eden Park.
Chris Peak, Mitre 10 NZ’s Chief Merchandise Officer, says of the event: “After another year of supply chain disruption and Covid-related challenges, it was great to be able come together in person and celebrate the achievements of our fantastic supplier community.”
So, what does it take to be singled out as best in class by the Mitre 10 NZ cooperative? Read on.
Sustainability Award: Zealandia Horticulture – “Truly circular closed-
loop manufacturing,” says Mitre 10 of its key partner in the Mitre 10 Pot Recycle program. “For the past 15 years, Zealandia Horticulture has operated with a strong sustainability ethos. They focus on reducing their environmental impact through rainwater harvesting, storage reservoirs, catchment ponds and reticulation and reuse, resulting in total self-sufficiency for internal irrigation and sprinklers in the nurseries. Energy to heat glasshouses is provided by a biomass boiler on-site, fuelled by wood waste from the pine plantation next door, reducing the need for fossil fuels.”
Sustainable Packaging Award: MK Archibald – This award recognises compliance with Mitre 10’s Sustainable Packaging Guidelines 2025 policy. Targeting a 95% reduction in plastic packaging by 2025, the company is already making significant changes, including removing blister plastic packaging from 25% of its range and eliminating 75% of unnecessary packaging from half the range, plus most
of the Number 8 hand tool range will be
packaging-free and all soft plastic shipping protection removed.
Building Products Supply Partner of the Year: Makita – “Makita has been a very willing partner during the pandemic period,” says Mitre 10. “Nothing has been too much of a challenge, with the local team providing solutions and options during a period of uncertainty.” Makita also signed up as a trade development supporter and has also heavily invested in its power garden range, delivering “exponential growth” and resulting in Mitre 10 becoming #1 with Makita in NZ.
Home & Garden Supply Partner of the Year: Evergreen Garden Care – After struggling to meet unprecedented demand during FY21, Evergreen Garden Care (formerly Tui Garden Care) worked with Mitre 10 to develop a clear plan to bolster its ability to fulfil orders and meet customer demand. “The strategy delivered significant sales growth, improved profitability, and a quantum leap forward in stock availability,” says Mitre 10.
Showrooms Supply Partner of the Year: Paint Aids Ltd – Maintaining
an in-stock position of 92.2% in the last year was no easy feat for Paint Aids,
given the challenges Covid and supply chain disruptions brought. “Both stores and the Mitre 10 category team felt well supported throughout, with feedback being unanimously complimentary,” says Mitre 10. “The Paint Aids team are always there when they’re needed, and not when they’re not. They have provided ongoing training and are a data-driven business with a true partnership approach.”
