Movers & shakers
ITM HAS ATTRACTED some top talent in the last few months. Take former Bunnings trade boss Des Bickerton, who is now the co-owner of ITM Warkworth and Mangawhai (see opposite page for more on this).
Take two is Alister Rance, former JV of PlaceMakers Cranford Street and Kaiapoi, who swapped his blue shirt for a black one after 18 and a half years and is now the owner- operator of ITM Hillside in Hornby, Christchurch.
Another real capture for ITM is 2019’s Hardware Awards Retailer of the Year, Des Smith (right); having done very well
at PlaceMakers Evans Bay, Des has bought into Hillside ITM in Glenfield on Auckland’s North Shore and will be on-site from early June.
We aim to follow up with Alister and Des in time for the next magazine.
In a parallel universe, Nadine
Bell (left) is the new General Manager of independent electrical co-op Appliance Connexion, New Zealand’s largest independent retail group of stores, trading under the 100% banner. Nadine joins from Honda New Zealand, most recently as General Manager Customer. She
spent over 15 years at Honda in a range of senior roles including sales, marketing, dealer, and supplier relationships. She brings with her both a commercial and consumer perspective and strong leadership capabilities.
Alan Warburton, Wintec’s Carpentry Level 4 Programme Coordinator at the Centre for Trades at Wintec in Hamilton, has been elected as the New Zealand Certified Builders Association Waikato President. Alan’s involvement with NZCB began through Wintec’s apprenticeship programme called Industry Training Association – Building (ITAB) at the Centre for Trades. Alan sees his new role as a way to step up into a leadership role in the industry, which will also enable to him to give back, something that drives him as an educator.
