Now, I know most of you think that all buzzards are ugly but that’s not correct. Some are quite handsome but not this one. He was very skinny and his feathers were not shiny. Of course I did not say anything about his looks. In fact, I was glad for the company.
We introduced ourselves. His name was Buster Buzzard and he had lived there all of his life. I told him how surprised I was to find a land so barren of just about anything. He agreed that it was a pretty pitiful place to live. “Then why have you lived here all of your life?” I asked.
“Well,” he said, “Buzzards can live just about anywhere. We don’t eat much and what we do eat, nobody else wants (I had to agree with that). But more importantly we think that it is important to tell anyone who will listen about what happened here.”
Now, you know how I am about interesting stories, so I asked him to tell me about what happened in this barren land. And thus began his story.
