Set the burner to medium heat and melt the butter. It is important NOT to burn the butter so slow and easy is the way to go.
After 15-minutes stir in the salt. Some of the butter will be lost when placing on paper towel. Do this with a slotted spoon to leave excess.
Once the butter is melted, put the 1-pound of pecans in and stir until all the pecans are coated. Set your timer for 15-minutes. Stir often.
I use to layers of paper towel, that is a cutting board under the towels. Ladle the pecans onto the paper towel and level them out.
