Page 17 - G-Gold to Lead
P. 17

The last idea the Old Man had was to suggest that the Young Man take the lead to town and trade it with a plumber. The Old Man suggested that a plumber might be willing to teach the Young Man a skill that he could use to earn a living. We hear the Young Man reject the idea, saying, “Why would anyone want to do that for me?”
His Stinky Thinking causes him to reject the idea that others might be nice or helpful. He is suspicious of others and even denies that he wants to move to town. His behavior seems very silly but unfortunately it is fairly typical of people who maintain their Stinky Thinking. They think that everyone else is just like them. This means that they won’t trust others or be helpful to others for fear that someone will take advantage of them.
Stinky Thinking makes life difficult if you are a crow, more difficult if you are a child and very difficult if you are an adult. Right now is the time to change any Stinky Thinking you have that is similar to the thinking of the Young Man. Do this before it causes you the kind of trouble it caused him.
1. What did the Young Man tell himself about taking the “Gift” to town?
2. What type of thinking is that?
3. Write a little about how you think the rest of the Young Man’s life turned out.
