Page 5 - Mousy Mouse Has a Bad Day

Now, let’s look at the life of Mousy Mouse.
As Mousy leaves for her first day at school, her mother makes sure that her clothes are clean and neat. Mousy looks at her nice checked dress and clean shoes and remarks to herself, “I look pretty good today” and begins whistling a happy tune.
I think Mousy is off to a good day at school. As Mousy turns the corner of the barn, she meets her friend, Samantha.
“Oh Mousy,” said Samantha excitedly, “look at my new shoes, I can see my reflection in them.” Mousy tells Samantha that they are very lovely shoes, while staring down at her own not so new and not so shiny shoes.
You know how you get that “sinking” feeling in your stomach when something like this happens to you? Well, I could just tell that Mousy’s mood had just gotten a little less happy.
At the fence post, Mousy and Samantha meet Darlene, another friend. Darlene is taller and thinner than just about any other mouse her age in the community.
In an excited voice, she tells her two friends; “Look at my new striped dress I just got this week-end.” “You know,” she said in a hushed tone, “striped dresses are very fashionable. They make you look slimmer and taller, don’t you agree.”
