Page 7 - Mousy Mouse Has a Bad Day
P. 7
Several days later, when Mousy got home from school, she saw a new carriage in front of the family mouse hole. She went in and asked her parents, “Is that our new carriage?”
“Well it is not exactly new,” said her father. “I helped the Tillard family move in and Mr. Tillard sold me this carriage at a very good price.”
“Oh, it is the prettiest carriage I have ever seen,” said Mousy. “Does it go fast? Is it comfortable? Is it safe?” rattled off Mousy.
“Yes, yes and yes,” laughed her father. “Oh, I can’t wait to tell everyone about our new carriage,” said Mousy.
It was nice to see Mousy happy again. She had been down in the dumps for several days after the “shoes and dress” incident. What made matters worse was that she was too embarrassed to make up with Jeff.
While sitting in a tree high above the school yard, I noticed how she avoided being anywhere Jeff was playing. I could tell that Jeff realized that Mousy was avoiding him and I suppose that he thought she really did not like him any more. What a shame. Not only did Mousy make herself feel bad for days because someone else had newer shoes but she had lost a good friend in the process.
