Page 8 - Mousy Mouse Has a Bad Day
P. 8
The next day at first recess, Mousy was telling a group of classmates about the new carriage. She described the beautiful color and how fast it went. Some of the others remarked that it sounded great. Jenny, who lives next door to Mousy’s family, said that she had seen the carriage and it was just as Mousy described it.
Then Helen stepped out from the crowd and asked, “But it is a used carriage, isn’t it? I mean, it’s not new?”
Mousy replied that her dad had bought it from Mr. Tillard at a very good price.
“Oh, I see,” said Helen scornfully, “Used .” “My dad says you are just buying someone else’s problems when you buy used. My dad always says that if you can’t afford the best, then just do without. It is too bad your dad doesn’t know that.”
When Mousy got home, she took one look at the carriage and kicked it for being so ugly and was angry with her dad for being so stupid.
Needless to say, Mousy had a very bad day.
